Matt Chan was the overall male winner of the inaugural USAW/CrossFit Weightlifting Open, which was held in Colorado Springs, CO this past October. This unique event was a sanctioned USAW meet combined with a CrossFit Triplet. Athlete's were ranked based on their total (kg) in the snatch and clean & jerk, plus the total number of reps they completed in the CrossFit Triplet. The snatch and clean & jerk were judged by USAW officials and the CrossFit Triplet consisted of:
How many rounds and reps can you complete in ten minutes?
6 Squat cleans (55 kg men / 30 kg women)
12 Pull-ups
24 Double-unders
Matt (94 kg) won the event with a weightlifting total of 257 kg (113 kg snatch / 144 kg clean & jerk). His CrossFit Triplet total was 306 reps (7 rounds + 6 sqt clean, + 6 pull-ups), making his overall total 563.
